Greetings!

Here we are in mid-August and the weather is lovely for as far as the forecasters can see! Outside is all lush greenery and heavenly breezes. A tough time to sit indoors and write a newsletter...

To cure my summer writer's block, I'll try spicing things up a bit with some tactics borrowed from the mainstream publishing world...

Savor the remaining weeks of summer glory!

2013 School Year Cancelled

...my kids are hoping.

If that wish somehow goes unfulfilled, not to worry. We have sustainable school supplies at the ready, JIC.

Our Decomposition Books will record your notes in style - with hip cover designs in soy ink. The 100% PCW/PCF recycled paper and Made in USA pedigree will enable you to analyze Chaucer or solve equations with absolutely no guilty feelings.

Similarly, our Rebinders (100% recycled content binders) make a great solution for organizing and taming that blizzard of handouts. You can decorate the cardboard cover this year, and replace it next year, with the handy reusable hardware (simply unscrew a few rivets and assemble your new binder). We also have the beautifully simple Rebinder blank and graphing notebooks - ready to be embellished with your markers & crayons!

For lunch time, we've got all your trash-free lunch packing options, such as the EcoLunchbox set - an oval stainless steel container for your sandwich, pasta, etc., along with a small container for yogurt, cut up fruit or dipping sauce. For an elegant replacement for disposable plastic baggies, try our very popular Snacktaxi sandwich and snack pouches. At day's end, just turn inside out, wipe clean with a sponge, and air dry on one of our wooden dowel bag dryers. Quench your thirst with an easily packed 9oz size S'well bottle - insulated stainless steel (double walled) to keep your drink cold (or hot) for hours.
Angelina Jolie to Speak

...somewhere I'm sure.

Here in Ithaca, Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director of Food and Water Watch and a renowned food and anti-fracking activist, will speak on 9/24 at the First Baptist Church of Ithaca at 7pm (as well as 3pm in Cornell's Statler Auditorium).
Wenonah will be promoting her new book, Foodopoly: The Battle Over the Future of Food and Farming in America.
Ithaca to Add Thousands of Jobs

...if every business follows our lead in announcing a new part-time sales associate position. Inquire at the store for more details, and drop off a resume!

Quote of the Month

"The only option is a change in the sphere of the spirit, in the sphere of human conscience. It's not enough to invent new machines, new regulations, new institutions. We must develop a new understanding of the true purpose of our existence on this earth. Only by making such a fundamental shift will we be able to create new models of behavior and a new set of values for the planet."

-- Vaclav Havel
